Defining a proper boot fit
- First, sit down. Pulling on boots is easier this way. Stand up to adjust your foot and heel.
- The ball of your foot is the widest part and should fit into the widest part of the boot.
- The boot shank and the arch of your foot should have matching curves.
- Your toes should have room. Your toes should be lightly touching against the leather.
- Heel slippage is normal. In fact, anywhere from ½ inch to as much as an inch of slippage is appropriate. Slippage should subside or go away in about a week of wear.
- Wear thick socks. It’ll make wearing your boots more comfortable.
